Thinus is a practitioner-educator, currently coordinating the photography and multimedia programmes at the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) in South Africa. The past three decades provided the opportunity for large scale media production engagement, numerous solo and group photography exhibitions, visual and textual print publications, active involvement in photography and design education organisations, consultation in strategic educational committees, and teaching applied and theoretical subjects in photography and media production.
His deep interest in educational practice was awarded participation in the Ed D research programme at BU. This engagement provided the opportunity to research connections between Pedagogy, Creative Practice, Dialogue and Craftsmanship Values. This process will lead towards a deep understanding of a dialogic pedagogy that promotes craftsmanship values in a media practice programme.
